I can definitely relate to a lot of what you're saying. And honestly, I think you have a pretty healthy perspective. In particular, you recognize something most people don't: the importance of luck. Most people will tell you that hard work and dedication will bring success in whatever area of life you choose (work, relationships, etc). And don't get me wrong, these things will take you far and increase your odds. But those moments that hold the potential to elevate you and take you further are random, and you never know when or where they'll happen. It's all about being in the right place at the right time, and that just comes down to sheer luck. Again, that's not to discourage you to always try your best and dream big, but it is important to remember that in life, you're playing in the casino, and the odds of you walking out with the huge jackpot are stacked against you.

Now when it comes to trust, a lot of the same ideas apply, but I would add a word of caution: going through life not trusting anyone is a lonely path, and it guarantees that you won't make it to that 1%. Chasing that elusive 1% dream means risking the possibility of getting hurt 99% of the time, and having the strength and courage to dust yourself off and jump back in again. It might be corny as hell, but one of my favorite quotes to live by comes from "Batman Begins." "Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up." All of us will fall countless times in life, and unfortunately, some of us fall more often than others. Sorry you’re going through this @bolinha. I wish I could tell you that you are wrong about people but my experience is the same! I don’t get into many relationships but when I do, I try to be open & honest & there. I’ve always been let down.  I expect the bullshit but never accept it.  Keep at it!  It took a lot of hard work (& luck) but I’m in a quiet, comfortable place in life, I don’t have most of your worries.
