This isn't so much about the movie as it is the experience. Way back when, I attended college in Washington DC, and would often find side jobs to do along with my real jobs. One of them was when a movie theater opened up in Georgetown; since they were new they gave me tickets to give to college kids as part of their marketing campaign. I'd give them away at classes and activities and where I tended bar, but also ran contests with different organizations and the student government and such. During this, I got 12 tickets for a special screening of the (newly digitally remastered) exorcist with extended scenes, to be shown at midnight on Halloween as part of this big event to celebrate the release of the new version. I have away ten... And kept two. I asked my girlfriend at the time to go with me, and thought I was doing great things with that Halloween date. She ended up crying into my shoulder for almost the whole movie with her hands covering her ears and my sleeve covering her eyes, so it almost qualifies as my worst date ever. After wards, I walked her home, to her very nice apartment in a very nice part of town. She freaked out the whole way. She would jump and scream and talk about cold spots and shivers.... And she got me even more worked up than watching the exorcist with a screaming banshee buried into my shoulder did. She really, really did not like that movie. I still don't know why she didn't ask to leave early, or just leave. I digress. After I dropped her off, I started to walk my poor, broke college butt home. But I was in Georgetown. I had never realized that the stairs I used to cut from m to prospect were the same stairs. I turned left to start up my normal route home, and couldn't do it. Asking me to go up the exorcist stairs after watching the exorcist.... Well, maybe I should have anticipated that. I chose to just rest on the sidewalk under a street light until morning, since dawn wasn't fast off anyway.
