Book Nerds, Book Worms, and Worms In Apples
Sweet mother of pearl Halloween is tomorrow. I cannot wait! It's my favorite holiday! I am going to be a bad fairy. Black corset tutu and wings! I can't wait!
i went to the coffee shop today and did a grand total of nothing. Although I read a book in two days... well two books it was two in one kind of thing. I wish the author would just get on with it... in the second one she dragged her feet to postpone the conclusion. Aka used fluffy stuff to bridge the first and the third. Which hasn't come out yet. It is infuriating! I just don't understand it? Why for the love of god why?
I'm on to the next book I am reading today... well half way through it. I hate it when books disappoint you. I have to say though I do judge a book by its cover and I'm normally right...I pick up books I know I shouldn't. If they couldn't put a decent cover on it why should I think they put the time into making it a decent book. Ah you say what about the classics and the old books?
They lived in different times. Times where the book had to be somewhat good to publish it. Editors were more selective. Books were expensive no one wanted a dud. And now they only put good covers on the good books. Quantity is better than quality.
I admit there are some without good covers that slip between the cracks. And the second step in choosing a book based on its cover is reading the back.
Believe it or not everyone does it whether by the front cover or the back. Very rarely does someone choose all of the books they read based on someone else's opinion. Recommendations only go so far.
Be it the front of the cover or the back everyone does it.
There is my rant of the day.

I guess I'm a book nerd - can't say I've ever chosen a book based on its cover, unless you consider reviews/testimonials on the back to be part of the cover. My interest in mainstream fiction is virtually non-existent, only eclipsed by my lack of interest in current mainstream music...
