Hello! I am now back boo hoo suffering beer and sausage withdrawal symptoms...no not really, for my suitcase was full of such tasty substances coming back into the country! Explains why my case was so bloody heavy.
Here's a full update on Soldatka's Teutonic Adventure...
#1: Jena
Decided to cross Berlin by taxi instead of fighting with my stupidly heavy bag on public transport. Which turned out to be a good idea as the journey from Tegel to Bahnhof-Ost takes in most of the sights anyway.
Jena was really groovy and instead of being in pishy student digs like I expeced we were in a swishy 4* hotel with a sauna, breakfast buffet and shit expensive bar. So every night was investigate the local pub night. Made lots of new pals and arrived for classes every day with a bit of a hangover. not hellishly bad though. Oh and there was a sex shop round the corner from the Uni as well, me & my pal kept popping in at lunchtime to go "tee hee" and then run out again like tourists.
Here is something scary that one of the fellas found in a vending machine in a bar...
apparently you fill it with warm water and it's just like a lady's front bottom...anyway i bought one for Deutsche Boy. Behold its unpleasant plastic glory...
#2 Bavaria
Got there eventually after a hot and sticky and generally awful train journey on one of the few hot days we had. Pleased to see the Boy as you might imagine. He was singing at an open air concert that weekend and we got lots of free beer and tequilla as a result. I never ever want to see tequilla again. I talked shite all night, woke up covered in mud and bruises and didn't even notice the Boy carrying me across a field in the middle of the revelries. But here are some nice pix.
That's the boy singing "The Jack" by ACDC
and that's us being all coochy-coo afterwards. At this point I can still more or less see straight.
#3 Leipzig
Bit of a surprise to find the Boy's dad owns a knocking shop in Leipzig. Very surprised to find myself in a car with Boy's dad and brother and Boy heading up to redecorate the place. While they were working I immersed myself in other cultural activities such as art galleries, museums and the pursuit of ice cream cones. I really didn't want to go in the Moulin Rouge, as it is called, but Boy's dad made me. Not too scary, it was a very quiet night, and FREE BEER for us.
#4 Bavaria again
And the onset of the mighty mighty downpour...yep I brought the fucking crappy scottish weather with me again. No suntan this year. However we did get to visit his other brother and his family and to spend the night with 20-odd cats and kittens. We were all covered in at least 3 kitties each at all times. Here is me with some real pussy
But a houseful of cats often = houseful of beasties and I am full still of mosquito bites. We had to drive to a chemist where the guy in charge took one look at my bright red swelling limbs, went a bit pale, and sneaked me some prescription stuff that I should have had to see a doc for. Still itchy now.
The Rosenheim Wies'n (Autumn Beerfest) starts today but alas I was not around to attend, but midweek the pubs start having pre-Wies'n parties with free sossies and Wies'n beer and people dressed up in dirndls and lederhosen and dancing to Boney M. So my last night there was a pissed up on booze night, and the party continued back at the Boy's house. Eventual kip at 6am. Still managed to catch the plane. Would you like to see some nice young men in lederhosen?
#5 Cologne
Much wailing at airport on departure although I am going to see the Boy this Tuesday YAY! in London. Off to Cologne where the minute I landed it began to bucket down. Felt guilty about crap Scottish weather following me to the Rhineland. Met my old pal Detlev and we went to the restaurant where he works. Much fun and free beer from the nice looking boys in the bar while he did his medieval routine in the Haxenhaus. Thankfully world Pope Jugend Whatever they call it week has finished in Cologne, there were about 1 million pilgrims cluttering up the streets last week, all that's left now is a few T-shirts and pope candles.
So now I am home and utterly knackered and doing stacks of washing and seeing my kitties and trying to get back to normal for evil work on Monday...will pop round and say hi to all of you soon.
STOP PRESS:
Me 'n' the boy are off to see IGGY AND THE STOOGES tomorrow. In London. Fuckin' radge!!!
