I've just returned from the most magical weekend ever: Bizarro Con 2014.

Hosted by the wonderful people at Eraserhead Press, Portland's very own publisher of bizarro fiction, this event takes place in the enchanting (and haunted) Edgefield Manor in Troutdale, Oregon.

Checked in Thursday afternoon. Immediately found dried blood and a dead fly in my room. There was also a strange ticking noise in

Hi.

I've missed you. Despite my absence, you've been on my mind. I promise that I am well.

I've been writing a lot. Over coffee, my publisher and I were talking about how much has changed in this last year and how this only gets harder. I've learned so much, have been blessed with tremendous opportunities, and find myself agreeing to take on more despite...

Brace yourselves.

Broken River Books is expanding. My dude was given his own imprint King Shot Press, a literary branch that seeks to put out hard-edged, top shelf stuff that “comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable.” A woman that I really admire for MANY reasons will be spearheading Ladybox Books, an imprint that will be female run, edited, and published. Ladybox Books will...

My birthday is in just under three weeks. I originally wanted to do THIS, but for a good handful of reasons I've heard, I hardly think that this would be as fun if I went by myself. THEN, THIS landed on my radar. Gore zone all the way, baby! If any of you Portland locals plan on going, maybe we can exchange a high-five....

Oh you guys. So patient. So darling. Here's something that is (hopefully) a little more fulfilling than an automatic instagram post.

I've recently discovered a whole new meaning to busy. I work a day job full-time. I write full-time. I have a house and relationship to maintain. All this while making sure I keep three special cats happy. It's not easy, but I'll be damned...

It's true. I've been a Suicide Girl since 2007 and the experience has opened a lot of doors for me. One of the more recent involving having a book published through Eraserhead Press.

There's no happy ending is available now in print and kindle formats.

ABOUT THERE'S NO HAPPY ENDING

It's an apocalyptic tale where two lovers are separated on their wedding day and

Hi!

Now that I've finished meeting some crazy writing deadlines, I have some time to focus energies on funner things . . . like homework for @missy and @rambo (yeah!).

So here we are, ten random facts about me:

1) Spanish was my first language and I didn't really learn how to speak English until I started Kindergarten. I had a super thick accent up...

March 15th. The year is 2014.

I woke up to prepare the most grotesque (but delicious) breakfast I could fathom. A perfect amalgamation of Mexican and Greek cuisine. It. Was. Delicious.

Coffee makes for a wonderful dessert.

Last night, we fixed our back screen door for $0.20. This morning, we uprooted a lot of the shit in the backyard to clear the slate for a

Here is a quick read from the game Eclipse Phase I think you would enjoy: http://eclipsephase.com/downloads/eclipsephase_preview2_fictionlack.pdf

Shit, it's March already?

I went to AWP in Seattle. I didn't have a pass but managed to have a poor person's most excellent adventure. Portland bizarro writers carpooled up, met at the Hilton for a post-conference party, drank too much. I met and had insanely terrific conversation with the badass JS Breukelaar, crashed on my publisher's floor, woke up the next morning to

I haven't had a peanut but and jam sandwich in years. It was by far not the most bizarre sandwich I would eat. I used eat banana and peanut butter, cheese and jam, Vegemite and lettuce and cheese with tomato sauce and mustard sandwiches to name but a few.

I have discovered PB&J only after moving to South Africa. Peanut butter unfortunately isn't a thing in Croatia. The only time I had some before moving here was during the war, and it was from a Red Cross donation. I'm pretty sure I didn't like it back then. o.O
