Yesterday - Xiu XIu, Deerhoof, left before the Decemberists. Xiu XIu was one of the best concerts I've seen in a while. Wow... they actually create these sounds legitimately! (if you count rubbing a contact mic on things as legitimate...) FINALLY went to the Red & Black for the first time, which was a pretty great experience, and saw a midnight bike ride. Portland is teh rock. (Due to my being-up-all-nighted-ness, I will not be going to see Diamanda tonight. Oh, as if I'd be able to drag anyone along. FIE!)
Today -- thought about Conceptual Art, re-dyed my hair blue... went to a couple of parties. Then we decided to go to a festival in eastern Washington to watch a band that we like play at dawn. This entailed leaving Portland around 3... a long, wonderful drive through Columbia Gorge, and after two hours we discovered... nothing but an abandoned theatre in the middle of some farmland. We wrote it off as an experience in art where the situation had been presented to us, the actuality different, and the art being in our justifying these differences. Yeah, pretentious! (I just learned that we'd misread the directions and hadn't disregarded the final step.)
Drove back as the sun was rising -- stood at the Klikitat River during sunrise. Stopped at Multnomah Falls
God, what a long day. I suppose I'll stay up and do random chore-like crap until I go to sleep at a decent hour today. Yum.
"That was always my reason. I've been held back by a decision of risk. But oh... nine out of ten girls agree, if you've got nothing to lose I've nothing to give..."
I have seasons 2-3 of Mr. Show now. Yesss.
What is the most ridiculous thing you've done to see a concert?

I remember a band called "Performance Canceled" that would put posters up and then write "PERFORMANCE CANCELED" across them, then show up and play anyway. It was a Dada / performance art thing.
