Today I had my very first shooting experience, all thanks to seanbonner. Scopitone and I, along with his two little bros headed down to LA to the gun club for some fine birthday shooting. At this moment in time, I cannot think of a more awesome birthday experience. Though last night, Indian food and the Piano Bar with most of my favorite people was pretty damn fun. Back to shooting, I've never been more excited and scared at the same time. I was all cool and fine going in, but once Sean said it was time, oh man! The first gun was a 9mm HK USP. He fired one round and I saw the blast and literally wanted to cry. It took much psyching up to fire that first shot. I had visions of just flying straight back, or it exploding in my face. It wasn't quite so bad, but I'm not a fan of the casings flying at me.
The second gun was a .38 revolver. It was fucking awesome. I'm going to die tomorrow because I fired the damn thing so much. Unlike the 9mm, I could actually aim it decently. Headshots ftw. Check out the awesome picture below for my rad beginner's luck skills. The boys also got a .44 Magnum. I handled it briefly, firing once, but opted for my smaller .38 fun.
The last gun was a carbine rifle from WW2. Sean's friend had just got it. I was terrified to fire it! Just holding it, I thought it would blow out my shoulder. For a girl with weak, skinny arms, that thing was really hard to handle, aim and fire. My support arm was shaking after firing twice. I'm afraid of how the right one is going to feel tomorrow. The kickback was a little more apparent on it for me.
Upon paying out at the end, I was offered free shotgun birthday fun. Free. Shotgun. Fun. But after firing a box of bullets for the half hour before, my arms felt like jello. Heck, even if they hadn't, I'm not sure if a shotgun would be the best starter gun.
Anyway, this is getting lengthy. But now I've got gun fever and I just want to go back and shoot some more. Curse you Sean! Best birthday idea ever. I do wish I wasn't sooo terribly sore right now though!
And pictures, of course:
