this month is my four-year suicidegirls anniversary. in january 2004 i was eighteen - and looking back through my sets, it's very strange to see how much i've grown and changed over these four years.

sg has seen me go through so many phases, self-exploration and self-discovery, some bad decisions and a lot of good decisions. i've lived in a few different cities - from calgary, alberta, the prairie town i grew up in, to victoria and then vancouver, british columbia, and now in new zealand and australia. i've had too many new life goals to count, thirteen suicidegirls photosets, sixteen roommates, five or more 'love affairs', what is it - three or four new sg.com layouts, the development of my web design/development career, the evolution and de-volution of my modeling 'career', and the rise of my passion for photography...

so many of my best memories and good friends are closely associated with this website and its role in my life over the past four years. where i am now - physically, mentally and emotionally - is so tied in with my time here on sg. it's offered me so many opportunities, and has created so many awkward social situations. just for my being a suicidegirl, not because of who i am, i've been both worshipped and despised.
it's helped shape a lot of my identity, and, more than that, has offered me a way to sort through the mess that's created who i am.
i guess what i'm trying to say is that it's been a real ride, and it's so cool that i have this record of so many changes, awakenings, crashes, friendships, memories. and i'm glad that i've gotten to share it with so many cool people.

and this trip - (i'm in australia right now, and was in new zealand and san francisco) - just wouldn't have been the same without so many super rad people i met through suicidegirls. i've stayed with arik, glassheart, marni, rys, s_eldorado, and met countless others - like tahliana, who i've been talking to online for years. i've gotten the kind of hospitality that has made me feel like i've known these people forever, like i'm at home.

and i've learned so much from everyone i've encountered. i've learned how to be.
