I wish I could help you concerning working a booth, but I don't know the steps. I hope you have already gotten the help you were seeking when you first wrote this blog and I hope you are doing well.

Having your own business can involve a lot of sacrifices, but if you make it and you love, it can definitely be worth it. Since you asked for advice, I would say that it is best not to leave town for two weeks at this point, if you business is opening June 1. Like you said, most business fail, and many of the ones that do fail do so because the owners were not willing to really make the necessary sacrifices. Especially this early on, ya just gotta be there.

when I opened my business, I set aside (borrowed) enough money to pay my personal expenses for 1 1/2 years in case the biz didn't really earn me a living. and sure enough, there were some damned dry months there at the beginning, but eventually it got established and I could make my rent at home as well as at the office, etc. It added 3 years to my loan payments to do so, but it was literally worth it in the end!

The only caveat I'd have is if your parents are backing you in any way. If they are, I'd go and postpone the opening until your return; if they're expecting you to pay your way or carry expenses that are hard for you right now in order to travel with them, then I'd tell them the whole situation, offering the postponement (again, only if they're investing or otherwise financially supporting you), and let THEM make the decision. After they do so, you can still reject it; after all if they make an unreasonable decision about you, their reaction to your reasonable actions will be out of balance, no matter whether it's in relation to your original rejection of their plans, or subsequent rejection of their decision... if that makes sense!

that takes some real balls to start up a new business! im proud of you, a lot of people wouldnt take the risk to do it! i hope everything works out
