Though I am a Mac owner (iMac, Powerbook,), I am not a member of the Cult of Apple. But some of you may be, my dear friends, and I would be a bad, bad editor if I didn't combine two stories from Engadget and Gizmodo to bring you a jucy Mac rumor.
Gizmodo says,
Well, we know that Steve Jobs isn’t going to be introducing any new iPods at this week’s Apple Expo in Paris, but PowerPage, which has at least enough of a track record of accuracy to have been subpoenaed by Apple, reports that Apple is probably going announce updated PowerBooks later this week.
Oh my! That sounds positively interesting! But what could they be thinking about? Oh, Engadget, do you have anything to add to this mystery?
Engadget says,
A newly published patent filing reveals that Apple has been toying with ways to integrate a video cam into the latch of a laptop since 2004. And the company considered the idea again as recently as last year. Which means an iSight integrated PowerBook could arrive sooner rather than later considering that Apple has made a huge effort to push iChat AV onto people with the promise of a better videoconferencing experience.
All this sleuthing has made me thirsty, so I'm off to grab a cup of grog. If you'd like to win a SG Apple Rumor Chasing Merit Badge*, you may want to start at AppleInsider.com.
*merit badges will not be awarded, so don't even ask, smarty pants.
