Mike Patton Chooses Darkness

Avant-garde, musical maestro Mike Patton has teamed up with
Starbreeze Studios for its upcoming Xbox360/PS3 comic book-inspired game The Darkness—lending his vocal talents to the malevolent Darkness character itself. (As if we needed yet another reason to singe our retinas by staying glued to the screen all weekend on an Xbox bender.)

The Peeping Tom/Fantomas/Tomahawk main-man has long been a fan of both comic books and video games alike so the match seems perfect.

Seabreeze describes the game:

At the night of his 21st birthday, the Francetti family Don, Uncle Paulie, sends out hitman Jackie Estacado on a job. The hit turns out to be a trap and Jackie finds that Paulie wants Jackie dead. Later the same night, Jackie is posessed by "The Darkness", an ancient demonic power that gives Jackie spectacular powers. The story revolves around Jackie and Paulie fighting over the future of the Francetti family, and of Jackie's search for light and love in a dark and violent world.

1-Up Megazine

1-Up is an indie "mega" zine published by video game lifestyle enthusiast Raina Lee. Each issue is chock full of intriguing articles about all aspect of video gaming including critique of video game culture such as "the military-entertainment industry complex" and "gaming from a minority perspective."

1-UP is about how and why we play. It's about video games as a way of life, not just a pastime or private addiction. Stories about triumph and defeat, losing quarters, staying up late, and being invincible. Not your little brother's game mag; no cheats, codes, or centerfolds of virtual vixens. We revel in video games as a cultural experience and as art; blinking lights, blip bloop music, and a million ways to approach "gameplay."
