'Edward Scissorhands: The Musical' Makes U.S. Stage Debut

Tim Burton fans and theater goers now have a chance to see the musical version of Edward Scissorhands onstage. The show succeeded on the London stage, and now it’s headed for American audiences, thanks to director and choreographer Matthew Bourne.

The show debuted this weekend at San Francisco’s Orpheum Theater, where it will run until December 10th. Producer hope the show’s success will allow a move to Broadway.

“Matthew Bourne (Swan Lake) is back with a magical new musical adaptation of the classic Tim Burton motion picture Edward Scissorhands,” states press notes, “Already a hit in London, Edward Scissorhands has toured Asia and the United Kingdom prior to making its North American premiere in San Francisco. A treat for the whole family, this touching and witty gothic fairytale tells the story of a boy created by an eccentric inventor. With only scissors for hands, Edward must find his place in a strange new suburban world where the well-meaning community struggles to see past his appearance to the innocence and gentleness within.”

I’m not sure if the screenplay will translate well to the stage, but judging from the photos of the production, it will at least be fun to watch, provided OSHA doesn’t stop the production.

Hoff: The Man, The Myth, The Musical

Nope, this isn't a joke. The man of a thousand comebacks, David Hasselhoff, is set to hit the Australian stage in a singing/dancing spectacle based on his life.

Aptly titled "David Hasselhoff: The Musical," the show was reportedly inspired by "The Young and the Restless," "Knight Rider," and the songs of Teddy Pendergrass.

Fortunately, The Hoff seems in on the gag and says the show will be "totally campy." On the other hand, he’s also calling it a “heart-rendering set on my life and the mistakes I have made."

He doesn’t say if "Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical" was one of those mistakes.

It Figures That This Sort of Shit Happens in the Most Liberal City in the Country. Goddamn Liberals.

While working on my soon-to-be-published magnum opus, "Confessions of a Conservative Heartbreaker," and engaging in some rigorous online research about conservatives and wedding mishaps this past weekend, I stumbled upon this sad, tragic photograph, which I've reproduced below because, as a conservative, I have no respect for intellectual property or copyright.

But, O! How it reminded me of my attempt at navigating the canals of Venice, CA using a celebratory submarine I had rented from the U.S. Navy on the occasion of my nuptials.

Sure enough, on that fateful day, I, too, was grounded. Amidst the narrow water pathways of Venice on the day of my wedded bliss, I had an epiphany. A real wingnut moment...Both Venice and San Francisco are hotbeds of liberal depravity, and they were conspiring to undo the majesty of Conservative Living!

So what if we like big cars and even bigger nuclear submarines? We pay taxes, too (however reluctantly), and that entitles us to the usage of our giant vehicles, I say.
