Aggravated Assault as "Political Expression"

Barry Seltzer is confused about the First Amendment. He was reportedly excercising his "political expression" when he drove his car onto a sidewalk directly at Florida Republican Katherine Harris and a group of demonstrators.

For his part, Seltzer--who's a registered Democrat--told cops, "I intimidated them with the car. They were standing in the street." He added, "I did not run them down, I scared them a little!" That explanation did not stop investigators from arresting Seltzer for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony. Harris, Florida's former secretary of state, is best known for her role in the aftermath of the state's disastrous 2000 presidential election.

Sadly, this may be the only way to stop Harris and the Bush/Cheney cheat-machine from stealing another "election."

edit: This is in no way advocating pointing moving cars at Katherine Harris, W, or Darth Cheney.

VERO BEACH, Fla. Oct 27, 2004 _ An anti-John Kerry demonstrator was charged with felony aggravated assault with a gun for allegedly pointing a weapon at the head of a Kerry supporter.

Michael Garone, 52, was released from jail Tuesday on his on recognizance.

Garone and others were holding anti-Kerry signs at a street corner Monday in Vero Beach when Trevor Pickering drove up and said "Go Kerry," according to an arrest affidavit.

Pickering argued with the anti-Kerry protesters, and then got out of the car and knocked a sign out of the hands of one of the demonstrators.

"That's when (Garone) walked up to my car and stuck a gun to my head," Pickering said. "I said 'I'm sorry' and 'Please don't kill me,' drove away and called the cops."

yeah. that's why people carry firearms with concealed carry permits, in case raving lunatics lunge at them like that.

two points before i am torn to shreds:

if he had shot the guy, it would have been totally different. i wouldn't be siding with him at all

and this isn't a liberal vs. con thing. had it been a kerry supporter that pulled a firearm on a bush man doing this, i would say that it would still be fair game. again, so long as no blood was drawn
