Cannonball Bush?

The New York Times reports that although there has been a drop in popularity of President Bush amongst Arab-Americans, the cash is still flowing from some of the Arab-Americans' more wealthy pocketbooks.

Certain Arab-Americans, favoring the President's decision to wage war in Iraq, have been helping to fund Dubya's campaign for re-election. Mr. Mori Hosseini, an Iranian-Born American, says of the current President

"He has saved Iraq," said Mr. Hosseini, who left Iran when he was 13. "He's the savior, if not of Iraq, but also of the other countries around Iraq. They want freedom. I am so sure of this because I am from that part of the world."

Despite George Bush's calls to Muslim and Arab Americans to register with immigration, as well as his consistent support of Israel, the cash flowing in to support President Bush from Arab-Americans has risen steadily, even while his popularity has dropped to 38% among the group.

It is unclear whether these wealthy Arab-Americans are ignoring (or immune to, due to their high cash flow and consistent support of the current administration) such things as the Patriot Act, or the current turmoil surrounding the American occupation of Iraq, but they continue to open their checkbooks to someone who might end up hindering their freedom in this country for their less wealthy and less supportive peers.

To think that they are ignoring or immune to the situation assumes that there is going to be a wide spread problem here. I have heard of some isolated cases but nothing to make me think we are about to set up internment camps for Arabs in this country.

i don't deny that many people, whether Arab-Americans, Asian-Americans, Plain Ol'Yankees, etc, are fairly happy and content with the current administration.

were it me, i would find it difficult to have to jump through hoops and register and fingerprint myself and my friends and my family in order to stay a(n Arab American) resident of this country.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought G. W. Bush was planning to race across America in an ambulance with Dom DeLuise.

It was a 10-15 year stay in Japan to stabalize that government, a much more advanced and organized government than Iraq, don't think that anyone has saved Iraq at this moment... Was it McNamera who was there for that period... excuse my forgetfullness... it's late.
