Hicks (Finally) Charged, Mori (Still) Unimpressed

Australian Guantanamo Bay prisoner David Hicks has finally (after more than two years in detention) been charged. But the charges were weak and did not suggest he hurt anyone, according to his US military lawyer Major Michael Mori said.

Maj Mori said the charges backed up his previous claims that Hicks had never hurt any US military personnel.

"There is no allegation that David Hicks actually shot or hurt any US service member," he told the Nine Network.

"I think they are a little weak and I'm wondering where the worst of the worst are.

"David Hicks was labelled in the media that he is one of the 10 most dangerous men in the world and yet he's not charged with actually physically and personally ever injuring anyone."

Hicks is set to be charged by US military commission.

...and the guy's been held without charge for two years in a tent for the crime of not hurting anyone in a war zone. He's now about to be tried in a kangaroo court in which he will have none of the protections of even the most basic civil rights we afford to child rapists.

Some people, shockingly, have a problem with that.

Edited to add that he also seems to be charged with spying on something that didn't exist.

The Howard government won't dare rock the boat on this one. Shame!

I'm impressed by Major Mori's efforts, even though it seems that Dick's won't get a fair trial.

I guess the lesson to be learnt from this is that you should be very careful when playing for the other team!

A get-away driver during a bank robbery where a murder is commited is still guilty of murder.

Then why the two year delay to press charges? whatever
