It's saddest of all to think that 10 years ago, I looked upon Senator McCain as a respectable and admirable man. I am sorely disappointed in his wretched transformation into yet another crooked politician.

And he's Hitler. And the anti-Christ. And did we mention his name rhymes with Osama? Shit, he might even be black.

I think there was a fair number of people, from both parties, who share that sentiment.

I felt similarly, but that was long, long ago. He seems to have done a complete 180 from how he used to portray himself. Now, I'm just as disgusted with him as the criminals in the Bush administration.

The sad thing is if you look at the other candidates who ran, he probably is the best they can put up.

McCain is an a-hole for not supporting this bill. Every politician is dishonest and in the end become someone's pawn.

I believe African-Irishman is the preferred term.

As a private citizen who happens to serve in the military, I can't tell you how excited I am that this bill made it through Congress with enough support to override the President's veto that will likely come to pass real soon. Go ahead, make it a separate piece of legislation and PASS IT!

This President is the first one we've had in nearly 20 years that was a servicemember (we'll put his record aside during his service and just agree that he DID wear a uniform of sorts). Mr. President, show us some G.I. love & give us what we need to attend school "on the paved road" as we say back where I'm from!!

No person, whatever the circumstances, could in good conscience deny veterans the chance to serve our country just as honorably OUT OF UNIFORM as we do/did when we were part of the Mean Green Machine. Never have I been so glad I decided to join Team Go-Bama...

I've nearly completed a 2-year degree in the Air Force after serving for over 4 years, and when I get out and return to life as a civilian, the current G.I. Bill would have helped out some, but not quite enough to support me as a full-time student. I don't even have plans to go to grad school, just 2-3 years of university to complete a B.S. here in Washington state.

This new bill proposal effectively gives me the option of focusing entirely on college, and giving me the support I need to make my dream happen. I guarantee you that happy veterans in classrooms nationwide will do far more to boost recruitment than whatever lame ad campaigns the marketing wizards will have to come up with over the next few years.

This appears to be a case of "Put Up or Shut Up" for the armed services vs. the Republican Party. We may not be quite the reliable voting bloc they have counted on for years if key party members keep speaking out against it. I'm a registered Independent, but this certainly isn't helping their case to win my votes.

Just to be clear here, are you saying that 13 days of being tortured with a broken leg, crushed shoulder, stab wounds, fractured arms, and having absolutely no treatment of those injuries, is not a long time? Yeah, he was a total wuss.

I can not comprehend how anyone can vote for him considering his positions on the economy, Iraq, taxes but the idiot masses are lining up to support their "maverick" because he is so "independent."
