I am going to be yelled at for this... but I think the comments Michelle Obama have made are fair game to use. This isn't because I think its okay to go after some ones spouse just because they are married to the candidate. The reason her comments are fair game is that she works for the campaign; In doing so she goes out campaigning for Obama, and uses stump speeches that most of the comments come from. It's not an attack on Michelle Obama the wife but rather Michelle Obama the campaign representative.

The same should be if McCain's wife goes out on the campaign trail and made poor comments in her speeches while stumping for her husband. If I remember correctly a lot of people have gone out and attacked Bill Clinton about the comments he has made on the campaign trail. Yet no one makes a big deal that they shouldn't be "attacking" Bill Clinton since he is the spouse to Hillary Clinton. If Obama really wants to make it that comments his wife makes are off limits this election then he shouldn't have her holding rallies and campaigning for him.

Yeah, right! She should be like at home all pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen and shit!

I don't really see what the big fucking deal about her comments were in the first place. She said this is the first time in her adult life that she has really felt proud to be an American. Join the fucking club. The last 8 years have been a goddamn train-wreck. Maybe it was an unwise choice of words, but who in the world always says exactly the right thing? President Bush sure as hell fucked that one up pretty much every single time he opened his lying mouth during his presidency, Hillary Clinton has made some rather racist remarks, and John McCain doesn't know who leads Iran.

Whenever we focus on this silly tabloid bullshit, we neglect the policies we should be hounding the candidates about.

If people were arguing with Michelle Obama reasonably, that would be one thing. But they aren't. They're taking her comments completely out of context, distorting them in the way that they distorted the whole flag lapel non-issue, and using them to smear both her and her husband in the most sickening way possible. They aren't saying "well, she's wrong because of X, Y, and Z" they're saying "She's unpatriotic." And they aren't relating it back to Barack Obama at all - they're just smearing her, knowing that it will do collateral damage to Barack Obama and his campaign.

But that really isn't the point. It's irrelevant whether or not the GOP is right or wrong in attacking Michelle Obama. Who cares? What's important here is the gesture that Obama made by coming out and saying, "They need to stop doing that, and if they don't, there's a problem." I dig that.

Apparently for Blast, the only reason we should have health care is to patch up veterans that we send out to kill people. Never mind things like cancer, AIDS, pregnancy... y'know, stuff that hospitals take care of that doesn't occur as a consequence of people shooting at each other.
