How Ron Paul Supporters Are Like Meerkats

TUESDAY JANUARY 8 2008 6:00 PM

TAGS: Ron Paul, meerkats, mob

When confronted by a predator, meerkats have been known to exhibit a mobbing behavior. A clan of meerkats will surround the hostile critter, hissing and spitting until the intruder is driven away.

Fox News Channel’s own Sean Hannity found out first hand that such behavior is not unique to the adorable little mongooses of the Kalahari. Hannity was chased through the snowy streets of New Hampshire by a group of Ron Paul supporters shouting clever slogans such as “You suck, Sean!” The mob was upset about Paul’s exclusion from Fox’s Jan. 6 Republican Candidate Forum and in a demonstration of their commitment to liberty, chased Hannity into a nearby hotel.

Ron Paul was a tremendous loser in the Iowa caucuses. Nine out of ten people voting in Republican caucuses rejected Paul, despite the fact that he has his very own campaign blimp. However, Paul’s supporters were quick to point out that Rudy “9-11” Giuliani, who does not have a campaign blimp, was an even bigger loser in Iowa, but was allowed to participate in the debate.

I always thought that part of the "I had no idea what was written in my name" excuse was a little strange.

I know. Like he doesn't read his own newsletter or something. How ridiculous!

Maybe he's not narcissitic enough?

Myself, on the other hand, would be poring over every letter, and would probably flip out if someone had printed something like "a aircraft" instead of "an aircraft." Because I am narcissitic enough.

I'd do the same, but it wouldn't be narcissism as much as the fact that I know that if there is something with my name on it out there, it represents me. It's almost as good as if I myself said what is printed in those pages. I find it hard to believe he doesn't have one or two political agents going over every leaflet making sure that misrepresentation of his views aren't present in anything carrying his name. He's not really raising a stink over it either. If someone misrepresented my views I'd figure out who it was and try and get them to cease and desist. This all sounds more like he's sending out posters and leaflets with views he can't or would rather not proclaim to most.

Uh...right! That too. Because that would be bad.

I'm not for Ron Paul, hell I'm not even an American, but it seems sad to me that he was the only person in the whole Republican debtes (the early ones) that had any notion of any idea of what was going on in Iraq, or at least the only one who spoke the truth about it.

He's technically 5th in NH, same as Iowa.

It's not all that surprising. Most candidates have to pander to both sides of the war issue. If they come down hard either way they lose potential voters come the next election. He's the wacky candidate who has a lot of strange views, comparatively, so the status quo rules don't apply.

Overall, this was hardly a mandate. Clinton and Obama both got the same number delegates.

I thought Bush changed the meaning of "mandate" to "2% victory"

didn't he use "mandate" when he lost the popular vote?

You do meerkats a disservice, smithers.

In meerkats, non-breeding females are known to lactate to feed the brood of the dominant female. It's a group tax. Ronpauloompas (thank you thefreak, for getting that song in my head) would have no part in this.

Its not a perfect analogy, but I saw the opportunity to combine too awesome things into one: Ron Paul threads and meerkats. Its my best concoction since I invented the pepperoni burrito.

While I think this should be a typical part of Sean Hannity's daily waking existence, I do find it disappointing that it's the RP-tards and not your average sensible random group of civic participants that are 'after him' in this video.
