Burma Endures Panty Assault

The government of Myanmar is full of evil fucks, plain and simple. Because of out of control inflation and a need for more electricity, people began protesting earlier this year. Last month the country's monks joined the protests and began marching. The junta brought in soldiers and crushed the peaceful protests. Thousands of monks were killed and arrested. Internet access was shut down, visas were denied for foreign journalists. For days, soldiers raided homes and monasteries, dragging away dissidents and killing others.

Today, the Burmese people�s normal state of fear and oppression has returned. The streets are quiet and will probably remain so for a long time. Many people around the world were disappointed by the failure of foreign countries to apply pressure on the military regime and they are fighting back. With panties.

Activists in Thailand began a campaign called, �Panties for Peace.� Women are being asked to send their panties to Myanmar embassies around the world because the regimes military leaders believe women�s panties will �sap them of their power.� It�s kind of like kryptonite to Superman, except it�s panties and they are murderous thugs.

Not only are they brutal, but they are also very superstitious. They believe that touching a woman's pants or sarong will make them lose their strength.

I can tell them right now, that it will not. As a matter of fact, it might give them an erection, depending on what is happening at the moment.

So far, hundreds of pairs of pants have been posted, according to another campaigner, Liz Hilton. "One group sent 140 pairs to the Burmese embassy in Geneva," she said.

This may be the greatest protest in the history of mankind. Too bad it was borne out of frustration.

Condemnation by the United Nations and governments around the world have had no impact on the Burmese regime. This is a way of trying to reach them where they will feel it.

So, for now, take off your filthy panties and send them to a Myanmar embassy.

This is possibly the coolest protest ever, with the except of the guy standing in front of the tank.

oh and the "Kiss In" hosted by TaTu...but that wasn't really an awesome protest idea...but at least it gave people a reason to snog.

question...do the panties have to have been worn? I mean, if I just sent some brand new drawers to them would that have an effect too? I mean, I could always buy some on ebay of course, but this would forgoe the hassle of bidding on school girls used panties.

I'm afraid they MUST be Used Panties to combat patriarchal power. It's a kind-of female domination thing. When a member of the junta encounters female underwear he collapses. Don't ask me why, but these are guys who consult astrologers everyday. [And no one has been able to tell them that, actually, it's not good karma to kill a Buddhist monk.] So force them to face up to a kind of power that they spend their lives avoiding - female sexuality. Throw the panties at them.

I know people were killed, but really Thousands of monks? Where was that reported?

News coverage of Burma disappeared so quickly it seems. And I barely saw anything mentioning the protests on the US media. It makes me sad that I have to really hunt for real news, but if I want to know whether or not Britney Spears in wearing underwear today I can just open any newspaper or flip any channel on TV.

Avoid corporate television news as your primary source of information on events. CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, etc... (with the except of BBC News (tax-payer funded)) are all slaves to their corporate masters. It's focused on entertaining it's watchers, not informing them (it's more profitable for them to operate this way).

The established print media (i.e. newspapers, newspapers web sites) is a much better source for factual, relevant information.

Not nessicarily in that order. Mostly arrested, and haven't been heard from since.
I haven't heard anything about them ever since then either! Good thing that I know the important news, like that the new winter fashions are in!

Have regimes ever listened to what anyone else said? Military minds require a military response before they start paying attention. I'd rather see our troops getting involved in this, but with the current Iraq shenanigans I doubt anyone can spare the manpower.

If I start dating again, I'll be stealing panties for this.

Only just, though. And, it really depends on the paper you're talking about. A lot of newspapers are essentially tabloid rags, that are just as bad as the TV media.
