Stumblin’ Bumblin’ Rumblin’…Gonzo!

Today Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is spending his day in front of the House Judiciary Committee and it is going pretty much as expected. Gonzales appears to be a bumbling fool who was not at all in control of his department. At least, that is the picture he is trying to paint, in a bizarre attempt to make himself look incompetent rather than a criminal. The only upshot seems to be that his appearance was so awful in front of the Senate that he cannot come across looking worse.

It is a spectacularly insulting event to anyone with a brain. When Gonzales was in front of the Senate Committee last month he said “I don’t know” over 70 times. Today he has cleverly replaced, “I don’t know” with, “You would know more about that than I.” Masterful!

The hearing started off with a simple question…

Please just say something.

He did occasionally give a bit.

Yes, the Attorney General of the United States just said, "I think I may be aware of that." Very impressive.

How about a beat down?

Gonzales summed up how today’s experience has been for him.

"This process is somewhat liberating."

Uh, okay.

The phrase "it is my understanding" should not be allowed, because it's my understanding that most of Bush's appointees are full of shit.

[edited] ALSO: how in the hell is he not aware of Sampson's[sp?] testimony? The entire fucking country watched his testimony, but he's honestly trying to tell us he didn't?

[edited]Just one more thing: Is it just me or is calling a congresswoman a congressman not OK? I mean it could be perfectly legitimate and I'm just missing something. Anyone?

It's tragic that it's a better game plan to pretend to be a complete and total incompetent imbecile than to fess up to actually knowing something about your own goddamned job.

There should be a liability clause created in government institutions citing that blatant neglect such as this man's be solid grounds for impeachment.

agreed.
stupidity and incompetence shouldn't be an easy way out of culpability.

Anyone happen to have that image that was up when set pics were blocked? I feel a humorous Photoshop venture coming on.

I loved when they were asking if he had done something, and instead of asking if he had done it or not he kept saying "I thought that was a really bad idea, I never agreed with that idea, etc." as if thinking something was a bad idea means that you never did it.

Alberto Gonzales is the Attorney General for the United States of America. He is the chief law enforcement officer, sits in the president's cabinet, and is seventh in the line of succession.

Let that sink in a bit.

Alberto Gonzales's testimony shows he is a poltroon. The only thing in doubt is whether he is a shrewd political hack laying cover for his masters, or an idiot, and completely overmatched by his position. Sadly, I believe he is both in equal measure.

Our president, George Walker Bush, surrounds himself with such men.

Let that sink in a bit.

Is President Bush a shrewd political hack, or an idiot? Sadly, I believe history will show he too was both.
