You’ll Have To Pry My Gun From My Fruit Roll-Up Stained Hand

Thank God we live in a country where you can take your 2-year-old into a gun store and show him how to properly handle an Ak-47. That’s what happened in New Orleans last week and it was all caught on camera.

The father is looking at an AK-47, as many of us do on a Saturday, when he decides to let his son handle the gun.

“He’s telling the boy, ‘this is how you hold it, like this. Anybody in front of you, you can mow them down. Kill everybody, soldier, because daddy’s going to buy you this chopper,’ repeating it over and over,” Reese said.

Nothing wrong there and a great sign for the future of our country. You have just seen a totally legal, good time.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee said he was concerned about the incident but said that the father didn't break any laws.

Why would we make it illegal for a two-year-old to hold an AK-47? If you stop children from being allowed to hold an AK-47, then the next thing that will happen is the government will be marching into your house and taking your guns. That is exactly how it will go down – if you are a paranoid guntard.

I’m sure this is what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote The Constitution, back in the days of muskets. Keep up the good work, NRA! Everything is going great!

Me too, AK-47, gun shop. Gotta be white people, but yet again I am surprised.

I am all for the 2nd amendment, and I understand and can appreciate the argument, if you ban guns the only people with guns are gonna be the criminal since they don't attain them legally anyway. Now here is where I differ:

Handguns are fine, good for personal defense.

Rifles are fine, good for hunting, if you live someplace where you still have to hunt for sustenance.... Yes people still do have to, I am friends with some.

Shotguns, well shotguns are perfect for home defense, load in some 00 buck, wont kill your neighbor if you miss and the bang they make will scare off most bad guys.

But I mean seriously, assault weapons? Ak-47, M-4, please, what possible purpose other than law enforcement or robbing banks do these things serve?

Why should it be illegal for a 2 year old to hold an unloaded gun exactly?

AK-47=white? what makes you think that? And those rifles are LESS powerful than their hunting rifle counterparts all they have is a larger ammo capacity thats it.

what god fearing, red blooded, flag waving, white (retard redneck christian) american would be caught dead sporting a "communist" weapon? mini-14, ar-15 would be much more patriotic (and idiotic).

For your information AK-47's or any other fully automatic weapons are not legal in the United States. That was probably one of the many random incarnations of the AR-15 (a semi-automatic weapon). Secondly, this appears to be a pawn shop any proper gun store would not have allowed this behavior. Thirdly, any responsible gun owner would have never allowed his two year old to hold the weapon. A responsible gun owner should always treat all guns as though they are loaded. Would you give your two-year old a loaded weapon? I think not.

First off I can tell you have NEVER been to a gun show. They make a semi-automatic AK-47s and they are quite popular. Oh and full auto weapons are legal, you just have to have a Class 3 federal permit to own one.

Here in the land of Perfect it's 80 degrees, the waves softly roll up onto white sandy beaches, a gentle breeze blows by, birds sing, puppies nap, and the only thing that sweats is my margarita.

Welcome to Perfect . . .

ill remember that. you see nothing wrong with turning our nations two year olds into an army of remorseless killing machines!

im half kidding. but seriously, the kid is two. at that age, along with fire, along with knives, the parental message should be DONT TOUCH! NOT FOR YOU!

Since you asked - yes, some unchecked part of my brain immediately assumed: redneck. This is one of those stereotypically redneck things, just like giving your kids mullets, teaching them the importance of a well-jacked-up pick-up truck, and pointing out how many loops exist in the family tree.

I mean, there's nothing illegal about this, and no genuine reason it should be. But it just seems in poor taste, as though guns are such a central and critical part of everyday existence that you'd want to make sure to bring your two-year old to check out the AK's. I'm glad that this kind of gun-son bonding transcends racial boundaries.

Maybe, after this, they did more wholesome father and son activities like keg stand demonstrations, watching a no-rules cage match, or spending a couple hundred at the off-track betting house. None of it illegal, mind you, just a different set of priorities than reading about Big Bird.

(Amusing side-note: I learned to shoot when I was 8.)

no, but guntard usually=white.

[edit]

also, they may be less powerful, but flying bullets are flying bullets. the more rounds you have, and the faster you can get them off, the more dangerous you become.

I don't have any guns (or children) myself but I would assume you wouldn't want any toddler or small child comfortable with handling a gun - loaded or unloaded.

I think at age two, it should have been an emphatic "NO! DON'T TOUCH!" just as you would probably have to use the same warnings about ovens and fire.

Personally, I don't think any person under the age of 18 should be able to handle any firearm until they have gotten some sort of permit that is only obtained once they pass a basic safety test. I'm sure I'll get flamed for that so go ahead.

I find it hard to get too worked up about this. I'm not a big fan of guns, and yeah, this is sort of tacky (in my opinion) and - as attn_ho noted - some items should just be always off-limits for little kids. But, my parents certainly made "safety mistakes" with my sister and I. And we survived. Parents are just people too, and just 'cause this guy did one stupid thing one afternoon with his kid and it got caught on video .... I dunno that it means much particularly interesting or relevant. So, yeah, maybe put those pitchforks away....
