Washington DC is a nervous city today. Last week, a DC madam was indicted on racketeering charges and is now threatening to sell her 13-year old phone records to raise funds for her legal defense. Deborah Palfrey has been running a prostitution ring from her California home and has amassed a client list of 10,000. Her lawyer claims the list includes some of Washington’s “most influential figures.”


"You can make an assumption based on these facts: the escorts only responded to private residences in good sections of DC, Virginia, or Maryland, or in four- or five-star hotels ... The clientele was about 20% foreign, and it was not an inexpensive service."


Clients paid between $250 and $300 for sweet, sweet sex. Prostitutes kept half the money and the other half went to Palfrey, who made $750,000 over six years. Her home was raided in October.

Her lawyer denies she is trying to blackmail her past clients.


"She has had 13 years to blackmail people if that was what she wanted to do," he said. "It is only now, when she finds herself indicted facing significant prison time, that she has to resort to this."


Palfrey told federal authorities she would "make life miserable" for former customers unless her case is dropped. Oh, please, please let the list come out. Please.

it's usually kind of hard to charge someone with a crime and then make sure the evidence doesn't make it into evidence isn't it ?
