its also cracks me up that moving a bus stop is now considered as a victory agianst crime! Alternitivly they could have gone for the cheaper option with exactly the same results - Take you're first finger on each hand push them into you're ears... now close youre eyes and say 'lalalalalalalalalala' as loud as you can until the problem goes away...

they weren't "going after" anyone. this kid vandalized the bus and was caught and punished .

and moving the bus stop is what the kids and school asked for, while it may not be a "victory" it was still a good thing to have happened.

im not sayin that it wasnt a good thing im sayin that he's getting a big slap on the back at media attention for doing practially nothing. He's not really solving anything. Surely, for a project that had such high expectations and potential benefits it would be alot better for all involved if they concerntraited on sorting out the surrounding area?
Maybe its just me but I reckon that should be slightly higher on the list of priorities thats all.

it's going to solve the problem of a shitload of kids getting robbed.
cleaning up the streets isn't an easy project, it requires money, resources, and a lot of red tape. i'm sure they'd all be very happy if there was no crime there anymore, but that's not really the issue.
yeah he was using it as a publicity stunt, but who cares? this is one of those rare occasions where government works the way it should. the people needed something, they asked for it, and it got done. let him take some positive publicity from it, maybe it will encourage him to do the right thing again.

oh, and taggers can go eat a bag of dicks. graffiti can be beautiful art, tagging is destructive shit.

yeah obviously its not easy in the slightest, hell, even if he just proposed something tho, ANYTHING! Even if its just an inititive that progresses over a matter of years, just something pro active. mayor giuliani did an over all pretty good job with NY, so its not an impossible task. it would just be nice to see a mayor pull his weight abit more apposed to looking out for the next photo opitunity, because im pretty sure it wasnt a ball breaking task to get a bus stop moved/added.
But yeah, i do have to agree with you on the tagging thing. Im all for comical acts of irony like here, but tagging (in this form atleast) is completely fuckin pointless!

you dont just start doing amazing "pieces" or "murals".
you progress to that level.
and even amazing graffiti artists still tag.
