One Good Use For An Idiot President

Lakehead University of Thunder Bay, Canada is taking advantage of President George Bush’s apparent stupidity. In a new marketing campaign called "Yale Shmale," the school uses the image of Bush on posters along with the phrase, "Graduating from an Ivy League university doesn't necessarily mean you're smart, choosing Lakehead does."

The posters encourage kids to check out the Yale Shmale website where potential students will find more snappy insults against Bush.

"We believe the person you become after you graduate is even more important than the person you were when you enrolled. Go to a university that cares how well you do after you leave."

Oh, the young kids will love that. The university will also send ambassadors out to “teen hangouts” in Smart Cars. Hopefully the ambassadors can “rap” with the kids about the school. A Smart Car lease is also being given away, as well as four PSP video games.

I would also recommend using the words “Awesome” and “Radical” a lot when talking to the kids. They’ll think you're one of them.

One letter away from a Slander Lawsuit... tongue

I like how the White House won't comment about this.

There's nothing slanderous here. But it is an interesting case of perception versus reality. Little chance of this campaign happening if Kerry had been elected, and his IQ is lower than Bush's (although both are well above average.)

Kerry's IQ is lower than Bush's? And Bush's is above average? Can you give us the numbers please? Are we talking 102 and 101 or something?

slander is oral -
there is nothing spoken here;
it's more like libel.

In a telling display of Lakehead's reputation and enrollment numbers, none of the posters actually use the instituion's name....

(ah, apparenlty one does. I have only seen the other).

I would think the whole "YaleShmale" thing would have a "c" in it and be correctly spelled "YaleSchmale." Unless I'm mistaken, the whole "schm" <as in Plans/Schmlans, etc> thing originated from Yiddish humor. Fucking irony about the whole "we're smarter" stance. I guess they're not interested in impressing any Jews.

They could have used the same rhyme if Kerry had won....

http://election.about.com/b/a/121198.htm

Estimated to 123 vs. 120 (both of which are higher than JFK at 117 but less than Gore at 130-something.)

Also, if it means anything to you, Bush's grades at Yale were slightly higher than Kerry's at Yale - and much higher than Gore's at Harvard. I happen to think that means basically nothing, but FYI.

Since when has IQ, integrity, an honesty ever won an election? Shit, not in my lifetime. It's all been about who has the most dirt on their opponent - or who comes across as more sincere. If ANY of them had integrity or morals, there would be no more smear campaigns.

Speaking of high IQs, when does that Dan Quayle correspondence course start?

they should just offer free beer to students who enroll

nobody goes to a university to learn anymore, they go for that "college experience."

They can't. They're already offering a chance to win a 4 year lease of a "Smart car" and 4 Sony PSPs. I guess there's only so much money in this year's Gimmick Budget.

Or in this case - a small college experience in a remote location. You can't get that anywhere else. smile

Thunder Bay is actually a cool fucking city. i loved it there. HOWEVER, my tour of the campus actually left me dumber than i was when i arrived. they say "eh" far too much, even for a bunch of Canadians.

and finnish is the weirdest language ever. i hate it. it's a useless language and it makes me angry mad

Much appreciated irony! biggrin

.......but the "College Experience" is pretty valid, I think - I learned the finer points of sexual experience in the dorms, how to gamble, get to know my buses dearly (a much needed mode of transportation, took acid trips - all that ANIMAL HOUSE stuff.

AND got to meets the BBF, loved authors, some great filmmakers, and saw movies - some great, some awful, but for FREE!!

Speaking of which, I wonder Bush's fave movie list is.
