Iranian Terror Squad Road Trip

With Hizballah's spiritual leadership, weaponry and funding coming from Iran (via Syria), it's difficult to escape the conclusion that the "Lebanese Resistance" are actually a proxy Iranian force.

As if to underline the point, a convoy of Iranian volunteer terrorists have set off for Lebanon to help their Hizballah brothers attack Israel.

The above photos hail from Tehran-based website A World Without Zionism, which has many more images of the group.

I'm guessing that the Israeli Air Force does too, and it's rather difficult to imagine this convoy making it very far into Lebanon before the passengers start wondering what happened to the 72 virgins they were promised.

So what's the big strategy here?

Is Iran just trying to piss off the Israelis?

Or will the inevitable "martyrdom" of this idiot squad be used by Ahmadinejad as grounds to enter the war and make good on his promise to wipe Israel off the face of the map?

In other news...
A UN resolution giving Iran until Aug. 31 to stop enriching uranium or face the vague possibility of sanctions, was rejected by the Iranians.

Act shocked!

And the funding and weapons coming from america means that Israel is just a proxy army fighting for the U.S. against Islam?

Well, I don't think Hezbollah represents Islam, but certainly Israel's attempt to wipe them out helps the U.S. war on terror.

I just don't think that's a bad thing.

It should be pointed out that although these people are terrorists (and likely anti Semitic),, anti-Zionism isn't inherently anti Semitic.
Jewish groups like Neturei Karta and the SatmarHasidim, the ultra-Orthodox as well as different other socialist and liberal find Zionism in direct conflict with their religious belief. While people like Noam Chomsky feel that true Zionism doesn't advocate a Jewish state only a Jewish homeland.

My reason for posting this is that many people on the boards have attacked people that are not Pro Israel as anti Semite or anti-Zionist while the latter may be true, the former is not necessarily so.

Noam Chomsky, Neturei Karta & Satmar have less relevence to mainstream Jewish opinion than your post has to this thread.

But since you bring it up, I personally don't believe that criticism of Israel is the same thing as antisemitism

It's often grounded in antisemitism, it sometimes amounts to antisemitism - even if the critic doesn't recognise or intend racism. Occassionally it just fulfils the agenda of antisemites.

Often it's just fair criticism, which no country (not even the world's only Jewish state) is above.

In Iran's case, it seems a clear cut manifestation of antisemitism. Real heavy, religious antisemitism.

-5 points for using a standard "the war on (insert easy target)" line.

Not that I am surprised you didn't read my whole comment but.

and being that pics in your "news" piece hail from "A World Without Zionism" it seemed like a good time to make a relevant point to comments that have popped up more than a few times on the board.

I will add you are right that it often can be rooted in anti Semitic beliefs, which is unfortunate.

Well they are a terrorist group...

My points are so far into the minus anyway - another five won't make that much difference.

It's a necessary step before The Rapture can come about. I've just ordered a crate of canned tuna and enough milk power to supply a third world country. I would duct-tape my windows, but never untaped them following the bird flu scare.
