Esophageal Papercuts

TAGS: Dan Gross

Slate's Dan Gross is one of the most insightful writers covering economics, but for his sake, "you are what you eat" had better be false. Speculating on the future of Treasury Secretary John Snow back in April, Gross wrote:

John Snow will have a replacement, and he may very well come from the corporate world. But if it's an A-list Wall Street CEO, I'll buy a copy of Dow 36,000 and eat the first chapter.

Gross wasn't the only one to botch that call, but he is the only one who had to eat someone else's words in addition to his own.

Considering that web postings are often forgotten the day they drop off the front page, Gross has proven himself a stand-up guy by actually following through and eating a copy of one of the wrongest books ever written. For the sake of clear and accurate economic analysis, a commodity in dire shortage, let's hope Gross' digestive system neutralized the idiocy contained in the pages he ate.
