Canadian Ambassador to US Resigns

He had the position for less than a year, but two days after the fall of the Liberal Party as government and the resignation of Paul Martin as the party's leader, Canada's Ambassador to the US, Frank McKenna, has resigned.

He has informed prime minister-designate Stephen Harper of his decision, Canadian Embassy officials in Washington said Wednesday.

In his two-page letter to Harper, McKenna asked to be relieved of his duty, adding he shared a mutual commitment to Canada with Harper and that he would have had no difficulty working with a Conservative government.

However, "he believes that it would compromise the position of the ambassadorship" were he to stay on[.]

The position is historically appointed by the Prime Minister, and many political observers have commented that McKenna's future prospects in the position were already in question.

It does, coincidentally, open up the former Liberal premier of New Brunswick to pursue the possibility of becoming the new leader of the Liberal party.

We wouldn't have to worry about Liberals, or Conservatives if we all just vote GREEN.

As has been stated before, Canada did not vote the Conservatives in, it voted the Liberals out.

I think you and I will have to be repeating this same statement more than a few times again.

Yeah, I think so. Even in Canada, too. Not that I blame them, though, since I hear they actually have an entire news program devoted to California.

And then the sane news afterwards, I imagine.

Yes, but that's never going to happen. The Greens don't have a solid platform and both the Liberals and the Conservatives have done well for some parts of Canada. Mostly the rich ones...

Also... I fear the new ambassador.

Just watch.
Harper will appoint fucking Mulroney. And not Ben, so we'll still have to see his fucking mug on our televisions.
