Well, considering how the U.S. often seems to almost blindly back Isreal I don't blame the guy for thinking there's gotta be some sort of conspiracy behind it all.

And while some of the stuff the Jews say isn't as mean or disgusting, the fact that they think they own Isreal and all of its land because of something written in the BIBLE makes me a little worried. When they start talking about how God gave them this land and they'll kill anyone who tries to take it, they sound nearly as fundamentalist and whacky as the people arrayed against them.

And, of course, it also reminds me of Manifest Destiny and the slaughtering of Native Americans who happened to be in the way of said destiny. If anyone ever thinks that we're beyond such things, take a good look at Isreal and how the U.S. supports them.

I don't think the thing at issue is having a Jewish nation. The issue is that they've decided their Jewish nation is more deserving of being placed in an area both sides consider holy than the other people's. As far as religion goes, it's like saying, "But we just have the ONE nation!" "Yeah, but your nation has all the gold and ours are all swampy and suckass!" "Yes, but you have more of the sucky nations, so it's fair!"

Argh, every time Israel is brougth up I have to go through this because some people don't seem to know the real history and instead spout half truths and propaganda. Jews don't think they have a right to the land because of the bible. The land was our people's homeland long ago and in 1880 they started a mass immigration back into Israel. This was done during the Ottoman Empire and was with the Ottoman Empire's full consent and no land was taken from anyone, it was bought from locals. So there have been a substatianl number of Jews in the area since then. It should also be noted that the Arabs had a similar mass immigration during this time period and that there weren't nearly as many of them in the land before 1880 either. So when the British in their "infinite wisdom" divided up the land amoung the peoples living there at the time, the Arabs and the Jews. The Jews took their part of the land and created Israel. In doing so the League of Arab Nations decided to "wipe them from the face of the earth". This is the true reason the US supports Israel.

Well the thing is the Ottoman Empire let the Jews move back. The whole claim that the Jews stole Palestinian land only happend following the declaration of war on Israel which was the Jewish part of the land. My opinion on that is that when the Palestinians rejected the land partion given to them by the British and decided they wanted the entire thing the boarder became fluid again and Israel was able to legally take possession of more land. The reason I belive this is they started the war and Israel needed to put itself in a better strategic position to win and keep from being annihilated. A key part to who would win the war was who had controlled of the many abandoned British forts that littered the land.
