Dubya: If You're Against The War, You're a Conspiracy Nut

George W. Bush lowered the state of political discourse even further today, as he attempted to lump opponents of the war in with conspiracy nuts.

He said he welcomed "honest critics" who question the way the war is being conducted and the "loyal opposition" that points out what is wrong with his administration's approach.

But he termed irresponsible the "partisan critics who claim that we acted in Iraq because of oil or because of Israel or because we misled the American people," as well as "defeatists who refuse to see that anything is right. With that description, Bush lumped the many Democrats who have accused him of twisting pre-war intelligence with the few people, mostly outside the mainstream, who have raised the issues of oil and Israel.

Bush argued that irresponsible discussion harms the morale of troops overseas, emboldens the insurgents they are fighting and sets a bad example for Iraqis trying to establish a democratic government.

"In a free society, there's only one check on political speech and that's the judgment of the American people," the president said to sustained applause from a friendly audience, a gathering of Veterans of Foreign Wars. "So I ask all Americans to hold their elected leaders to account and demand a debate that brings credit to our democracy, not comfort to our adversaries."

Because, of course, the only way you could be opposed to the war is by being anti-Semetic or believing the oil cartel is running the world.

Dubya's speech comes as approval of the war continues to decline, despite the fact that he has launched a series of speeches to try to "explain" the war. It now rests at an all-time low of 39%.

or because we misled the American people

How many Weapons of Mass Destruction have been found so far?
What? None? Wait a second...

So I ask all Americans to hold their elected leaders to account and demand a debate that brings credit to our democracy"

So...once again I ask, how many WMD were found? Wasn't this the reason for the war? Didn't many people know the intellegence was false? How much cover-up of this has there been? How many actual lies and contradictions have there been from the Whitehouse?

I think it's plainly obvious the American people were mislead, along with quite alot of other people in the world.
Yet 'ol Georgie boy and his gaggle of chums are still in charge. Unaccountable. Unquestioned seriously about this.

Any wonder half the world thinks America is a joke, while the other half just dispair?

Yeah. I love this shit.

You know that 600 mile fence Congress is building. Well it is actually going to be built around a section of southern New Mexico. That's where the reeducation camps are going to be.

My bus is waiting outside as we speak.

Funny, I'd say that the people who do still support the war seem to be the ones who'll believe anything.

Abuse of Logic

The worst of the fallacious arguments is the "False Dilemma" (False Dichotomy) argument.

This is commonly used by the hustlers and the ignorant

As I emailed my pro-Bush (former) friend in May of 2003 on the question "Where are the WMD's?" Answer: "The dog ate them."

So Bushy seems to be saying that as long as you agree with him, you can excersize your freedom of speech.
Remember to hold you leaders accountable......if they don't agree with King George the second.

I've always found it funny how the republicans claim to promote democracy when they badmouth the 'democrats' so often.

Although as far as speeches though, that one was uncharacteristicly smooth of him.

Q: What do you do when you're the leader of a nation and your people begin to severely lose faith in the way you're doing things?

A: Just tell them to shut up.

I turned on the news last night, and they were discussing the Harry Belafonte situation. One of the guests on the show had the balls to mention how on the morning of 9/11 George's dad was meeting with Bin Laden's brother. The host of the show was all shocked that he would dare mention that, and compared him to Michael Moore and the like, and then for the rest of the show everyone else ridiculed his intelligence and wouldn't let him speak again! It was crazy.
