Best of the Best of 2005 (So Far) Lists

One Louder has been keeping tabs on the "Best of 2005" lists that are starting to pop up now that the year is half done.

The consensus? Spoon's Gimme Fiction and The Decemberists' Picaresque are making frequent appearances, as is Bloc Party's Silent Alarm. I'm surprised that one of my favorites of the year so far, Art Brut's Bang Bang Rock and Roll, doesn't make any of these lists, but it hasn't been officially released in the U.S. yet.

okay, i was influenced by these lists to pick up a copy of out hud's "let us never speak of it again" and it's fucking great.

MIA- arular (so obnoxious at first, but ended up loving it)

the new lcd soundsystem is really fun too, if kinda unremarkable.

I just can't get into most of those groups that keep finding their way on the top ten lists. I've got that Bloc Party album, and while I think it's good, it kind of drones on after a while. Most of the stuff just ends up being too mellow for me I guess.
