Best of the Best of 2005 (So Far) Lists

One Louder has been keeping tabs on the "Best of 2005" lists that are starting to pop up now that the year is half done.

The consensus? Spoon's Gimme Fiction and The Decemberists' Picaresque are making frequent appearances, as is Bloc Party's Silent Alarm. I'm surprised that one of my favorites of the year so far, Art Brut's Bang Bang Rock and Roll, doesn't make any of these lists, but it hasn't been officially released in the U.S. yet.

The list of the lists:

And just to be a contrarian, Muzzle of Bees posts the worst disappointments of the year.

2. Napalm Death - the code is red
3. Cursed - two

5. Fantomas - suspended animation

. . .and as of right now, that's all I know.

Danzig -- Danzig II: Lucifage

It didn't come out this year, but if it did, it would be in my top five for 2005.

Circa Survive, anyone? Or Open Hand?

Alkaline Trio completely ignored by everyone, I see frown

Good album, but could have been great if it had more tracks like Burn, Smoke, Time to Waste, and Poison. I'm still waiting for something to top Maybe I'll Catch Fire.
