Best of the Best of 2005 (So Far) Lists

One Louder has been keeping tabs on the "Best of 2005" lists that are starting to pop up now that the year is half done.

The consensus? Spoon's Gimme Fiction and The Decemberists' Picaresque are making frequent appearances, as is Bloc Party's Silent Alarm. I'm surprised that one of my favorites of the year so far, Art Brut's Bang Bang Rock and Roll, doesn't make any of these lists, but it hasn't been officially released in the U.S. yet.

The list of the lists:

And just to be a contrarian, Muzzle of Bees posts the worst disappointments of the year.

Gotta say, apart from:

Bloc Party (imo not a TOTALLY consistant album)
MIA
LCD Soundsystem
Edan
Vitalic
White Stripes

not much in those lists really excited me... Beck gets taken for granted tho imo, the man can do no wrong.

Jesu is better than everything mention

1. Jesu
2. Napalm Death - the code is red
3. Cursed - two
4. Pelican - the fire in our throats.. . .
5. Fantomas - suspended animation

. . .and as of right now, that's all I know.
