Kweli Stars in New Video Game

Talib Kweli, an accomplished solo artist and one half of Black Star, will provide the voice for the main character in a new video game.

Kweli will voice Trane, described by Atari as "an outcast and rebel determined to establish his credibility in the politically oppressive city of New Radius, but who ultimately becomes the unlikely leader of an urban revolution." Trane will help stir the masses by painting graffiti murals in dangerous and public locales, in what "promises to be an homage to graffiti's rich culture.

The PS2 exclusive, "Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure", is due to hit store shelves in September of this year.

Talib Kweli is awesome. But this sounds like a GTA clone. Never clone things that suck to begin with.

Ok, I'm not gonna touch your flawed assessment of GTA; but how does a game about graffitti sound like a game about the criminal underworld? If you asked me it sounds more like Jet Grind Radio.

I think it would be a different approach to a game. Like Need For speeds Porche unleashed. you actiouly learned something from it.

I'm just not a fan. Nothing against those who are smile Because there are a lot more of you and you all could tear me apart.

But aren't there graffitti missions in the new one? --Wait. I guess I misread the original post. I didn't really catch the urban revolution part. Yeah, that's not exactly the same.

Still, I couldn't see this game being made 5 years ago, before GTA 3. There really weren't many games in "realistic" modern urban settings.

read an article in game informer about this a while ago, found a link to some pics and news stories ign.com marc eko. The write up sounded pretty good, also they said the main method of travel is "Free Running" known in Europe better as "Parkour" which was cool because it is somthing of a hobby of mine here is a wikipedia entry on parkour and here is a Parkour group's website watch the vids of the free runners practicing and what not, its friggin awsome.
Any way if the game can accurately recreate the feeling of free running and not over embelish it, the game could be some wonderfull hybrid of Jet Set Radio and Tenchu. Interview with Ecko about game
