Trent Reznor makes a bad song better!

FRIDAY DECEMBER 17 2004 3:00 PM

Submitted by Niobe. Edited By illstabyou.

According to a recent acticle on NME U2's next single will be Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own The single will include Bono's cover of Ave Maria with Pavarotti and a DVD of a live performance of the single. Also to be included on the new single is a remix by Trent Reznor of that over-played you know it from the iPod commerical Vertigo!

Hopefully Reznor can make the song listenable again.

does one actually cover Ave Maria? I mean...it seems to me that covers are songs that require the artists/record company's permission to do, while Ave Maria I'm pretty sure is not the property of anyone...

Maybe Bono will stop counting: 1, 2, 3, 14! Who is that old and unable to count?

the good news is you can tell when an old band is going to hang up the hat: they start to cover/copy/re-do songs like crazy. finally i may be able to hear the end of U2... i mean Ave Maria is a pretty desperate choice. skull

You're kind of right. There is no permission required to record or perform a cover song. It's called compulsory licensing. You can license the song for performance for a fee and the original artist can't say no.

But I don't think Ave Maria would be considered a cover. I think it is more of a standard.

I wonder if the same's going to be true with APC.

??

it sounds to me like he's saying "onze, douze, treize, quatorze!", which would be 11, 12, 13, 14, but i could be wrong.
