Return of the Fugees

After an 8 year sabbatical the Fugees have announced they are reforming. The band consisting of Pras, Wyclef Jean, and Lauryn Hill formally announced their return at Dave Chapelle's Block Party in Brooklyn, NY.

Jean was quoted as saying ...

“All the Fugees are talking. We're all definitely talking. The energy is definitely good energy,” he said. "I spoke to Lauryn. I spoke to Pras. And [its] just real good energy, good vibes."

A new album from the band is expected to be released late next year.

This is a good thing if it will prevent Pras from releasing another solo album.

Wyclef -- to me atleast, always seemed really full of himself.

Its either going be really cool or really horrible -- I doubt they'll be an in between.

I think the album has the potential to be really great - as long as Wyclef is prevented from bringing in "guests" like Santana, Lenny Kravitz, Dave Navarro, etc.

If nothing else, the Fugees make some fun records. Fun because there is a mix of humor, depth and good old skillz. This fun has been lacking on their various solo projects.

I was always of the opinion that each of the Fugees' weaknesses were balanced out by the other two. Lauryn and Praz temper Clef's ambition, Praz makes sure the other two don't get too pretentious or overbearing, etc.

when the money runs out and none of you has done anything to mention in over 6 years, i guess its time to get the reunion on.

All of Wyclef's albums have been good. They've just been steadily declining. But there's a lot of decline left, considering he started with "One of the best solo hip-hop albums ever."
