The King of Pop Is Dead

Reportedly, pop icon Michael Jackson has passed away after suffering from cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home earlier today. The singer was rushed to the hospital in a coma but paramedics were unable to revive him, after which he was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. The King of Pop was 50 years old.

With a career starting as early as age eleven with the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson is widely considered one of the most influential artists of the past century, and remains one of the world's best-selling musician of all time. The singer was in Los Angeles rehearsing for his upcoming sold-out performances next month which have obviously been canceled.

Jackson is survived by his three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

He had good music, but I'm not going to mourn for a pedophile. It's sad when any person dies, but this is not a "travesty". People die, even famous ones. Life goes on. Get over it.

Horrible to think he's dead. I always thought he would outlive me, despite the fact that I'm much younger than him. He just seemed so immortal.

Opinions are hilarious, aren't they? Maybe the reason he was never charged or convicted of "inappropriate acts" is because they never happened.

"inappropriate acts" are not limited to molestation. It's CLEAR that his concept of what is appropriate behavior in regards to children is completely askew.

In case the issue is cloudy....you do not share your bed with children. You do not give children alcohol. You do not dangle a child over a 3rd floor balcony.

I feel bad that he died, and that his life wasn't one that his fans would have wanted him to have. But at the same time, I keep the music and the man separate; the Michael Jackson that made great music died a long time before the media spectacle did, which the obituary posted above alludes at.

That's what I like to do regarding Phil Spector. blackeyed

And Ike Turner.

He was found not guilty by a jury.

and we all know that the american legal system, especially when put in the hands of a jury, is infallible and above reproach.

Shrug. I personally never believed the accusations so I'm fine with it. I always thought he was taken for his money. Just my opinion.

All I can say about what he allegedly did with other children is that I just never believed it. That's just my opinion.

I'm lost

JUN 26, 2009 12:59 PM

Lisa Marie has posted a very moving blog on her MySpace which MJ lovers -- and haters -- might like to read:

Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general.

I can't recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Fathers Death.

At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, "I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did."...

I wanted to "save him" I wanted to save him from the inevitable which is what has just happened.

Well, he stopped being a musical genius years ago. His stuff was great, especially Off The Wall. Thriller was an iconic album, like it or not (I don't).

After the mega fame Thriller generated he descended into abject weirdness - and not in a good way. If he didn't abuse kids, he created such a bizarre environment where it was almost impossible to NOT believe he did.

Yeah, he was exploited as a child performer and that's bad. He may have been sexually abused and that's awful. But, his childhood was hardly the horror suffered by kids who are forced to work in the De Beers diamond mines in South Africa or kids who are forced into military combat.

Please, enough with the crying over his death. He had more than enough dough for a hospital full of psychiatrists to fix his brain. He chose to hang out with Webster and Bubbles.

Jacko died 20 years ago. His ghost finally split the scene yesterday.

You don't just "stop" being a genius, genius.

And not every brain can be "fixed". I wish they could.
