Reunion Mania Pt. III: Team Dresch

In the endless parade of reformations and reuinons this year, here's one to really get excited about. Queercore and grrrl legends Team Dresch have announced plans for a full-length reunion album to be released in 2008.

Those unfamiliar with the band's 1994 LP, Personal Best, have been missing out on a stone cold indie-rock classic that transcended its genre tags with pop-hooks and fierce gusto. The band slowly dissolved over the coming years with line-up changes and sporadic releases. Guitarist Donna Dresch (who did time the "rock boys' club" playing as a member in both Dinosaur Jr. and Screaming Trees) moved on to concentrate on her own record label , Chainsaw Records, which launched the career of another bar-raising grrrl band - Sleater-Kinney.

Team Dresch briefly reunited for a show at Olympia, WA's Homo-A-Go-Go Festival in 2004, which apparently reignited their old chemistry. So much so, the band then tested the waters further by playing a series of shows in 2006.

PRESS release

Team Dresch - does it seem like a dream where you thought it was real but then you realize it was just a dream but then OH SHIT it IS real!!!! That's how we feel too, being that we're all a solid decade (plus) older and (wiser) somehow we found ourselves coming back together to play, and write, music together again. What started as a "reunion" show at homoagogo in Olympia Washington summer 2004 sparked the beginning of a new beginning for our band.

So here we are, 2007 (huh?) and we're playing shows, writing songs, coming up with new t-shirt designs, full functional band. For reals. Here's our mission (statement) now that many years have passed and we finally have fully developed brain matter. (This matters) : To write amazing songs, to put on a show that feels like lightning, super cell clouds, and retains the connection with our fans/audience/friends that feels like the old days. We want to keep some of "the old days" but move into 2007, colony collapse disorder, wars, babies, you know it all just keeps on keeping on.

Team Dresch is writing new songs for a new record, to be releases ASAP in 2008, and we'll be touring sporadically to try and get those new songs TIGHT.

Team Dresch will begin getting those new songs 'tight' and treating fans to old favorites like "Hate The Christian Right" and "Fagetarian and Dyke" on June 19th in Chapel Hill, NC. The band will continue on to Los Angeles for a performance at Outfest in July. The reunion line-up will include all original members including original drummer Marci Martinez but will also feature later day (and friggin' powerhouse) drummer Melissa York. The pair will rocking their kits in rotation on the six city trek.

The band plans a joint tour with a reformed L7 in the new year.
