Fugazi Gets A Photo Book

WEDNESDAY JUNE 6 2007 9:00 PM

When Fugazi officially announced their indefinite hiatus, it was disheartening to think about a world without the excitement of a new album from the D.C. quartet. We can, however, look forward to a collection of Fugazi photos.

Punk, hip hop and skateboarding photographer Glen E.Friedman has compiled all of his Fugazi photos for a forthcoming book called Keep Your Eyes Open. The book's 112 pages collect images spanning the band's existence and will also include an essay by Nation of Ulysses and Make-Up front man Ian Svenonious.

Keep Your Eyes Open is slated for release on September 3; the twentieth anniversary of the very first Fugazi show. If you're still jonesing for some kind of Fugazi-related musical fare, Ian MacKaye's band. the Evens, will be on tour in North America through June.

I'm having a hard time believing I'm "first" to comment on this over two hours after posting. What's wrong with you guys???

Glen E. Friedman books were like a freaking Encyclopedia Britannica when I was just discovering hardcore punk and hip hop. Plus, Fugazi is awesomely awesome.

I'll definitely be picking this up.

Can't wait for the book though.

Glen Friedman has some great shots of Fugazi! I went to his opening in Georgetown a few years back and meet him and the members of Fugazi. Fantastic band, my favorite of all time!!
