If you're unfamiliar with Oliver Wang's writing, you should check out his excellent Soul Sides blog. Wang, or O-Dub as he is known to the Southern California DJ world, knows more about hip-hop and its funky roots than your older brother or even his older brother.
For more on that you should look into volume 1of his Soul Sides compilation; a collection of classic and rare sounds that may have eluded the attention of even steadfast connoisseurs. Continuing in that fine tradition, Wang is ready to release the second installment of the series, Soul Sides Volume 2: The Covers.
As you may have guessed, the forthcoming collection features rare covers of soul sides from a variety of funky artists. Wang is a masterful selector, so don't miss out. Left coasters should also try to check out O-Dub in person at the release party for The Covers taking place this Saturday night at The Kava Lounge in San Diego. After you're duly impressed, cop the album next Tuesday, May 22.
