It's already easy to hold a place in your heart for the sound of classic girl groups, however the existence of Brighton's Pipettes makes it even easier. The group's 2006 album We Are The Pipettes reminded listeners that even though Phil Spector is an alleged murderer the influence of the groups he produced still thrives in the twenty-first century.
The American popularity of the group on the strength of import-only releases has resulted in a U.S. issue of the ladies' debut EP, Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me, scheduled to appear in stores on June 5. Yanks can also put off spending a hefty import price for the aforementioned album; an American version will follow the release of the EP on August 28. Both releases will be handled by Interscope imprint Cherrytree Records.
Finally, if you were one of the lucky people to catch The Pipettes at SXSW this year, you can relive the experience in June; the group will be playing select dates In North America.
