The Meat Puppets Return

The Meat Puppets may have formed twenty-seven years ago, but they're not ready to completely call it a day just yet. Cris and Curt Kirkwood are giving the Puppets another go with a brand new album and tour.
The band has completed work on Rise To Your Knees, their first album of new material since 2000's Golden Lies. The reunion was announced about a year ago and since then rumors circulated that the Kirkwood's would be joined by Primus drummer Tim Alexander. Evidently those were just rumors as ex-MTV audio engineer Ted Marcus handled percussive duties on the new album.
Of course there are some tour dates in the works, so if you've always wanted to see the Meat Puppets and missed them at various points over the last three decades, you're in luck. As of now the only confirmed shows are west coast engagements, but the band promises a full U.S. tour will take place later this year.
Rise To Your Knees hits stores on July 17, however you can stream an album track called "Disappear" here.
