Baltimore's 'Virgin Fest' Lineup Announced

If you're an east coaster who was either sold out of this weekend's Coachella Festival or, like me, you simply can't afford to travel across the country to an expensive rock show, you have a chance to enjoy a huge festival of your own. An impressive line up for the U.S.' first Virgin Festival has been announced and it will be easy to convince ourselves that we've been offered a suitable replacement for the enormous California shindig we're missing out on.

The two-day extravaganza will take place over the weekend of August 4 at Baltimore's Pimlico Race Course. Though your travel expenses may be less, don't expect any bargains; a two-day pass to the event will make your wallet $150 lighter while a VIP pass (we all know how valuable those are) will run you a smooth $450. Gents, save your pennies; this may be a good opportunity to impress your younger alterna-rock loving girlfriend.

Keeping with the theme of 2007, both days of the festival will be headlined by newly reunited bands; The Police on August 4 and Smashing Pumpkins on August 5.

August 4:

* The Police
* Beastie Boys
* Modest Mouse
* Incubus
* TV On The Radio
* LCD Soundsystem
* Fountains Of Wayne
* Peter Bjorn and John
* Sasha and John Digweed
* The Fratellis
* Danny Tenaglia
* Amy Winehouse
* Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals
* Sander Van Doorn
* Shout Out Out Out Out
* Cheap Trick
* Felix Da Housecat
* Paolo Nutini
* Booka Shade
* Miguel Migs
* Fiction Plane

August 5:

* The Smashing Pumpkins
* 311
* Interpol
* Yeah Yeah Yeahs
* Velvet Revolver
* Chris Cornell
* The Crystal Method
* Wu Tang Clan
* Matisyahu
* Girl Talk
* Bad Brains
* Deep Dish
* Regina Spektor
* Spoon
* Dieselboy and Andy C
* M.I.A.
* Infected Mushroom
* CSS
* James Zabiela

By the time it rolls around, the weather might actually be more unpleasant than the weather for Coachella this weekend.

Am I the only one who saw the words "Virgin Fest" in the title and thought it was going to be about yet another Christian-music-pro-abstinence-rally/gathering-in-a-stadium somewhere?
Anyway, why go to Virgin Fest or Coachella when you can go to this?

Modest mouse, LCD Soundsystem, Felix, Harper, Yeah Yeaah Yeah's, Wu Tang, Bad Brains, Regina Spektor, M.I.A. and CSS all in one show? That is pretty sound. I wish we had better festivals around these parts. All we get is craptacular bs like ozzfest, , edge & warped tour....probably the only time in my life I have ever or will ever wish to be anywhere near California.
