Here's Part 2 of this week's "Recommended Viewing"

6. As promised, the second part of the Genesis P-Orridge interview.

7. British electro-mavens Goldfrapp are equally loved as hated. But how can you not instantly be moved to boogie the night away when this track is thrown on? "Ride A White Horse" is the last track to be extracted from 2005's Supernature for single release and its video is a nice tongue-in-cheek piss-take.

8. Not so much a "Recommended Viewing" as it is "listening", here's the new single, "Survivalism," from Nine Inch Nails' forthcoming album, Year Zero. And hey, it's pretty damn good.

9. Here's a video we found for The Normal's (AKA Daniel Miller) 1978 single, "Warm Leatherette." Inspired by J.G. Ballard's novel, Crash, it ended up influencing countless bands, not to mention launching the Mute label. The video, featuring clips from 1950's educational films about auto crashes, was not contracted officially, but Miller seems to like it so much he has linked it from Mute's website.

10. This Week's YouTube Gold:
Top pick of the week.

Trent Reznor & Peter Murphy - "Warm Leatherette"
A brilliant cover of The Normal track by Iconic gloomsters, Bauhaus's Murphy & Nine Inch Nails' Reznor. Filmed and recorded during promotional appearances for the Bahaus/NIN tour last year. That's Jeordie "Twiggy" White on bass there.

Wow.

Hadn't heard of The Normal before, but it's pretty amazing that anyone was doing such gruesome minimalist synth music back then. What a video, too.

New NIN material aways brings a big, dumb smile to my face. The new stuff sounds a lot more energetic than 'With Teeth' thankfully

hopefully get to see them again in Sunday! biggrin

I really like that Warm Leatherette video. More disturbing, however, is this gem I found yesterday:

I like it a lot better than the original; plus, he seems far less insane than Jacko.

Yes, lots of strange, wonderful, "minimalist synth music" was produced in the 70's. Suicide, DAF, Cabaret Voltaire, SPK, Der Plan, etc. I am overcome with nostalgia watching these:
