Since Al Gore hasn't put in a bid for the 2008 presidential race, he has time for other things like booking a 24-hour benefit show. Gore has announced his plans for Live Earth, which will take place on seven continents and feature 100 high-profile artists.
The show aspires to attract two-billion listeners and viewers via radio, Internet broadcasts and television specials. According to reports, the first crop of artists confirmed for the event include the Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, AFI, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kelly Clarkson, Korn, Snoop Dogg and Bon Jovi. The shows will happen in Sydney, Australia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Shanghai, China; London, England; Kyoto, Japan; Johannesburg, South Africa and an as-of-yet undetermined American city.
Gore also claims that even residents of Antarctica will enjoy the first rock show ever staged on their continent. Penguins and polar bears are stoked.
The marathon-length show will benefit initiatives put forth by the Save Our Selves campaign and is scheduled to take place on July 7.
