IKTPQ Singer Calls It Quits

Australian band I Killed the Prom Queen posted a bulletin on its MySpace page announcing that their current singer, Ed Butcher, will be leaving the band to return home to the UK. This follows the split with former singer Micahel Carver, now the vocalist for Carpathian. Of Butcher's leaving, IKTPQ had this to say

His decision was entirely of his own accord and came as a bit of a shock to us however we must respect his decision to return home to the UK.

The band will announce a new vocalist later this year and will continue with every live show booked thus far. The band will also announce its next Australian tour in May/June.

The MySpace bulletin also contained the following statement from Butcher:

For the fans of I Killed The Prom Queen.
I have decided after a year of playing in the band that its time for me to leave. my reasons for this are personal but i would like to thank everyone who has supported the band since ive been a part of it. I am greatfull for your support and kind words throughout the year. Hopefully your support will continue ! Thanks again. Edward Butcher x

Prom Queen's old singer was Michael Crafter, not Carver.

Hopefully third time will be a charm for these guys when it comes to choosing a vocalist - for their sake, anyway.

I think it's funny that so many bands post break-ups on myspace... *shrug*
Why don't they audition for a new singer on myspace? I'm sure it would work.

Quite a few bands have done that, actually - they post a song of theirs for hopefuls to download, omitting the track recorded by the band member that's left, and people wishing to audition can record themselves playing along to the recording as the old member's replacement.

If I remember right, both Dillinger Escape Plan and Misery Signals did this when they were looking for new singers, and with great success.

Ed was a nice guy but i prefered Crafter's vocals.
I hope the new guy they get can sing and scream.

yeah man that sucks. prom queen kill it. i'm hoping it works out more for the sake of the rest of the band having to put up with an ever changing line up.

i prefer crafter, too, but it sucks to see them go through even more turnover. i heart this band.

For sure, its always the worst thing to happen to a band when they get on role to have the a member leave. They are resourceful young men, im sure they will pull through.
How did you hear of them?
