
Joel Gausten is a very busy man. His new release Tales of Horror: The History of The Misfits & The Undeada 50+ page limited edition excerpt from the full-length book Albums that (Should) Have Changed the Worldseems to have created quite the stir.
Gausten posted samples in his Myspace blog so fans could preview the book Albums that (Should) Have Changed the World, but when the incoming response became overwhelming, the author then decided to release Tales of Horrorthe mini-book describing the history of The Misfits and The Undead. Based on his skills behind the drums and the friendships Joel surely developed with these bands, theres bound to be some fantastic stories, both old and new, that any admirer will treasure.

Joel Gausten is a drummer, author and journalist. A drummer since age 9, Gausten has appeared on over 40 CDs, EPs and internationally distributed compilations with such acts as Electric Frankenstein/EF 2000, the Sixth Chamber and the Graveyard School. Since 1998, he has served as a frequent member of Bobby Steele's The Undead. In 2001, he performed as a member of Pigface with past/present members of Ministry, Revolting Cocks, Killing Joke, Nine Inch Nails, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult and Rollins Band.
In 1995, he rehearsed with the Misfits for several months as a fill-in drummer while the group was auditioning permanent members. Although he was never an official member of the band, Gausten later appeared on a number of Misfits bootlegs recorded during these rehearsal sessions. Gausten also worked with the Misfits as a promoter, booking and coordintaing the band's legendary "homecoming" show at Action Park in Vernon, NJ on August 26, 1996. In addition to the Undead, he also currently plays in the NJ punk band Broken Heroes.
Gausten is the former managing editor of Liner Notes Magazine and former editor of the award-winning automotive publication AASP News. While living in Los Angeles, he served a two-year stint as managing editor of Gambling Times/Poker Player. To date, he was written nearly 700 articles in a variety of music, gaming and automotive publications.
Gausten's upcoming books include Rock N Roll Monster: The Rik L Rik Story (due January 2007) and Albums that (Should've) Changed the World (due Summer 2007). He is also co-producer of an upcoming tribute album to Betty Blowtorch.
