Greg Hetson of Bad Religion Launches Black President

Greg Hetson of Bad Religion has launched his new project, Black President. Included in the lineup are Greg Hetson, Jason Christopher, Wade Youman (Unwritten Law), Christian Black (Dee Dee Ramone) and Charlie Paulson (Goldfinger).

Looks like this has been in the works since early June, 2005, and it seems as though they used to be called “Shithead.” Either way, I’m sure some kickass music, wild times, and political craziness is around the corner.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

BLACK PRESIDENT is a band founded on the belief that the human race is angry, greedy, simple & ugly. we believe in educating ourselves, treating the world & people around us with the same respect we would take from it (and sleeping with your ex-girlfriend). we are not "politically correct", we're just not ignorant.

BLACK PRESIDENT started out as a bunch of friends in different bands getting together to play (ruin) some of our favorite old-school punk rock. we called ourselves SHITHEAD. it was just something to do between tours, court appearances & jason's paternity suits...it was never meant to be anything more than an obnoxiously loud cover band.

we played legendary shows (...to 6 or 7 hollywood drunks) for about a year when charlie was asked to write a song for a movie soundtrack. who else was he gonna call to play on the song but his poorly-tattooed, fellow SHITHEADS? as history has shown the song came out better than the awful movie it was written for.

realizing we were a better band in our sleep than 99% of the bullshit people listen to we figured we owed it to the world (...or our egos) to see this thing through...hence BLACK PRESIDENT

we're currently writing & recording the album which should be out by next summer.

...until then vote, keep an eye on the bastards & use protection.

I can't promise it won't be cheesy.

Uh..Dee Dee Ramone died 4 years ago. As much as I'd like to see a zombie Ramone on tour.

eww. everyone knows Mr. Brett is the only intelligent member of BR. remember what happened when he left to pilot epitaph? All these bands are dead, with the exception of goldfinger, which should never have been allowed to record an album in the first place.
I for one will not buy into another "it;s not a reunion we're just burnouts" album or show puke

I would have thought he could've pulled off something better than Unwritten Law and Goldfinger for such a heavy-handed and self-righteous project. Fat Mike must not have been available.

Uh...the parenthesis mean that he (Christian "black" Martucci) played in Dee Dee Ramone's band (the Dee Dee Ramone band), not that he is Dee Dee. Just like Charlie Paulson plays in the band Goldfinger, but he's not James Bond's enemy.

Wasn't he also the "DJ" with King Dee Dee?

I kid, of course.

This sounds like the worst idea since that made for reality show band with Tommy Lee and those other two has beens that picked their singer on TV.
