Low Gets Bloody on The Violet Path

Low is returning with album number 8 with a likely title of The Violet Path. The album will be their second since signing with Sub Pop and like last year's The Great Destroyer, the new album is produced and engineered by Dave Fridmann.

The new album which is penciled in for a March or April release is focused on death and murder says Sparhawk.

"Near as I can tell, it's all about killing," Sparhawk told Pitchfork. "I was kind of realizing the other day that a lot of the songs deal with either killing someone or dying. I don't know, it's kind of funny...maybe that's the big question. [We're] kind of living in a time when it's good to talk about killing and being killed."

When isn't it a good time to talk about death and killing?

The trio has a handful of shows lined up this winter, before beginning an earnest supporting tour in the Spring.

Sure, as I said yesterday, Rob Crow's catalogue takes up a lot of space on my shelves, but Alan Sparhawk's would crush it to death in a serious CD sumo bout. This man has cost me hundreds of dollars in cds, lps, tshirts, stickers, videos, posters, and shows. Somehow, I still feel like I'm indebted to him. Keep it coming, Alan. We're all happy you're happy.

PS-If anyone gets a chance to see The Blackeyed Snakes, don't pass it up. And take your dancing pants.
