When Jay-Z is asked by customs officials whether the purpose of his visit in China is "business or pleasure," Hova will be forced to answer "pleasure." The King of New York's foul mouthed bravado is apparently not welcome onstage in the most populated country in the world.
Currently, on a benefit tour to help raise awareness concerning the world's water crisis, Jay-Z has been banned from performing in China due to lewd content in his lyrical flow. The ban was put into effect by the Chinese Culture Ministry. Speaking to the Shanghai Daily concerning Jay-Z's scheduled performance at the Shanghai Hongkou Stadium on October 23rd, promoter Sun Yun had this to say:
Some of Jay-Zs songs contain too much vulgar language.
China is well known for censoring suggestive material, even requiring rock legends the Rolling Stones to lose suggestive material "Brown Sugar" and "Honky Tonk Women" from their set list before greenlighting the performance.
In other Jay-Z news, with leaked song "Show Me What You Got" getting rotation on the radio now, heralding the imminent Kingdom Come album, Jay has fast-tracked the video. The premier of the video will be this Monday, and features Nascar heartthrobs Danica Patrick and, well, Dale Earnhardt Jr. According to MTV, the mini-movie video has Jay-Z auditioning yet again for Hollywood attention with car and boat chase scenes. Jay should have been considered for the new Bond.
