Sweetness Indeed: The Sugarcubes Reform

The year of unexpected reunions keeps plowing forward, as an official press release has announced that Bjork will be getting back on the stage with The Sugarcubes.

The band is celebrating their twentieth anniversary this year, and they have confirmed a reunion show for November 17. Of course, it's in Reykjavic, Iceland, so don't get too excited just yet. There are no plans for any touring, nor any word on new songs. Actually, there aren't even any real concert details yet. Looks like this will probably be a one-off deal, but let's keep hope alive just for shits and giggles.

Proceeds from the show will benefit a non-profit Icelandic record label called Smekkleysa SM, which was founded by Cubes member Einar Örn Benediktsson.

Wow that's awesome! This was one of the first alternative bands I ever got into (back when "alternative" truly meant an alternative), back in grade 8. If it wasn't for them I'd probably like much lamer music now.

Me too. And "Hit" was just the best.

Hm, what airline flies to Reykjavic? And what are the odds of stowing away?

Best news I've heard all day! Even though Einar's vocals got a little bit annoying at times, I loved their music and the chemistry . . . Gonna watch "Live Zabor" now on VHS. Yippee!!!

bjork was always the best bit - einar always sounded a bit shouty and euro (wouldn't be out of place on an aqua record) but love em nevertheless - i'm there! only £80 from london
